Holtsville, New York, boy, two, gets tangled in blinds and suffocates in Baby Safety Incident

Holtsville, New York - A two-year-old boy became tangled in venetian blinds in his home and suffocated. His father found his son, Brendon McCarthy tangled and administered CPR in an effort to revive him, but the boy died at Stony Brook University Medical Center.  March 24, 2010

Chippewa girl, 4, Autumn Meistad. dies in bathtub in water safety incident

Chippewa, Wisconsin - A four-year old girl from the town of Arthur apparently drowned in the bathtub in a water safety accident. The mother reported she just left her daughter for a few minutes, and found her underwater when she returned. She performed CPR until emergency responders arrived. The coroners findings were inconclusive. March 17, 2010 

Burlington, Iowa toddler, 3, dies in child safety accident after becoming 

trapped in futon bed 

Burlington, Iowa - A 3-year old boy, KyVan Bogdon, died after becoming trapped in futon bed. The preliminary report said it was caused by compression asphyxiation of the lungs and interferes with breathing.  Emergency crews were dispatched to the boy's home on Leebrick Street on Sunday but he was unresponsive. 

Rhode Island baby thrown from car in car seat dies - baby safety

Attleboro, Rhode Island - An auto safety tragedy occurred when Jordan Derochea was ejected from a car on Interstate 95

. The driver Ashley Derochea of Brockport, Mass lost control of the Honda and struck a guardrail and rolled over when the baby was thrown somehow from the car. It was reported the baby was in an approved car seat but the investigation is ongoing. The baby was taken to Children's Hospital in Providence and pronounced dead. March 16, 2010

Tennessee toddler, Cheyenne McKeehan, shots self with pistol when she mistakes it for Wii controller in tragic gun safety incident

Tennessee - A three-year old girl, Cheyenne Alexis McKeehan, shot herself in the abdomen with a loaded gun she found on a living room table. She was rushed to University Medical Centre but prounced dead. The mother, Tina Cronberger and father, Douglas Cronberger, were both inside their home in Norene when the incident happened. Apparently the girl had become familiar with a Wii gun used to play the game. Police warned parents that their childproofing checklist should include gun safety and keeping loaded firearms out of the reach of small children. March 11, 2010

Mesa, Arizona boy, 1, run over by dad's tractor in Auto Safety Incident

Mesa, Arizona  - A one-year old boy apparently ran behind a tractor driven by his dad and was run over and killed at his home near McKellips and the Loop 202. No foul play is suspected. March 11, 2010

Oklahoma toddler girl killed, dog safety lacking with Rottweilers in Perkins Oklahoma

Perkins, Oklahoma - A 9-month old toddler, Justin Josiah Big Soldier-Lopez was killed by a pair of Rottweilers in Perkins Oklahoma in Lincoln County. The girl's father, Juan Lopez was sleeping and the baby somehow got out of her crib and was attacked and killed in the hallway. Stillwater fire fighters were called and pronounced the girl dead at the scene. March 11, 2010.

Peoria twin boy 2, drowns in grandmother's backyard swimming pool safety mishap

Peoria, Arizona - A two-year old boy was found in his grandmother's swimming pool at her home near 75th Ave and Cactus. The boy lived at the home with his parents and siblings, which included his twin brother.  March 7, 2010
